Holy Innocents is a parish of the Diocese of Chicago, of the Episcopal Church, USA... and is a part of the greater Anglican Communion worldwide

Holy Innocents follows the "high-church" liturgical tradition. Most Sundays the service of Holy Eucharist is sung, using Rite II of the Book of Common Prayer. We are a diverse parish of many different kinds of people, yet we lift our hearts and voices together.

Our vicar, Marion E. Kanour, came to us from Atlanta, GA after an unexpected relocation, and we are extremely lucky to have her. April, 2002 marked her first anniversary as vicar of Holy Innocents. She will celebrate the anniversary of her formal installation on October 6th, 2002

Appearances can be deceiving! Holy Innocents is actually bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Our sanctuary is a large, space that welcomes the worshipper, invites contemplation,  and gently draws one's attention to the altar and to the Presence of Our Lord.

Music has always been an important part of worship at Holy Innocents. Many visitors are surprised to find that we possess a full-size pipe organ, which was built by a former organist. In 2001, a new adult choir was formed,  and a children's choir occasionally sings on special Sundays and holidays, such as Mother's Day and at Christmas. Both choirs are actively seeking new members.

Holy Innocents' kids have their own Children's Chapel as a part of their Sunday school classes. As in most Episcopal parishes, they join the adults in the sanctuary for the Eucharist, but sit together in a group rather than joining their parents.. Older kids frequently serve as servers during Sunday Eucharist. Christian Education and Children's Chapel are usually on hiatus for the summer, so call ahead for schedules and information.

Not sure what to do if you attend services at Holy Innocents? If you have not worshipped in an Episcopal church before, click here for "What to expect when you visit an Episcopal church."

Will you find a welcome if you attend services at Holy Innocents some Sunday? Of course - especially if you are married, single, white, black, Asian, Hispanic, young, old, have kids, don't have kids, are traditional, are non-traditional, or follow any one of a number of different "modern" lifestyles.  When you see the little red, white and blue sign at our driveway that says "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You," you'll know you've found your way to a very special spiritual community. We look forward to worshipping with you.
